Early Life and Family

Born in Thiruvananthapuram to Malayali Muslim parents, Nazriya was very close to her mother Begum Beena growing up. She has one older brother. During her schooling days, Nazriya’s family relocated to Al Ain, United Arab Emirates for her father’s work. However, she moved back to Kerala after 8th grade to pursue her passion for acting.

Education

For her primary schooling, Nazriya attended Our Own English High School in Al Ain, UAE. She later completed her education from Christ Nagar School and Sarvodaya Vidyalaya schools in Thiruvananthapuram. Though she was a bright student, her interest lay in extracurricular activities – especially classical dance and theatre arts. This exposure built a strong creative foundation.

Career

Nazriya started her film career as a child artist in 2006 with the Malayalam film Palunku. Her first lead role was in the popular 2013 Malayalam romance film Neram, opposite Nivin Pauly.

Post Neram’s success, Nazriya went on to star in many hit Malayalam and Tamil films like Bangalore Days, Om Shanti Oshana, Trance, Koode, Oru Adaar Love and more. She has worked extensively with her husband Fahadh Faasil.

Some of Nazriya’s best performances have come in Ritu (2013), Bangalore Days (2014), Neram (2013) and Om Shanti Oshana (2014). She is beloved for her lively characters and bubbly onscreen charm.
